""I went along, got involved and that was it. For me cricket is a chance to play just like anyone else. It's a great escape and I've made some amazing friends""
Our President, Phil Tufnell - 'Tuffers'
It is now just over 10 years since I first got involved with Cricket for Change and in that time I have enjoyed watching us grow and make a difference in lives of more and more young people.
Three things impress me about the work of our charity. One is the number of different places in which we find our young people – from schools and inner city estates to pupil referral units and young offender institutes. We go where they are, rather than expect us to find them.
The second is the number of different programmes run by young people for young people. The wide ranging programmes show just how far and wide we go, the young people we reach and the impact we have on their lives.
And finally the third is the passionate and dedicated team of staff at Cricket for Change. They are never afraid to confront the issues of the day that are affecting young people and the lives of those around them. By tackling these head on the C4C team enable young people to have increased self-belief, an access to training and the ability to have a more positive role in the decision making processes that affect their lives and the paths that they may take.
Amazing things are possible by harnessing the power of sport and we will continue to lead the way in unlocking that power.
