Coaching Apprenticeship Scheme

The Coaching Apprentinceship Scheme, is also part of the ‘StreetChance' project which is kindly supported by Barclays Spaces for Sports.

The C4C Apprenticeship Scheme provides an opportunity for young people aged between 16 to 24 to become the next generation of cricket coaches or sports development officers. The scheme allows the young people to use their own experiences and determination to help transform the lives of others.

Those on the scheme more often than not come from Cricket For Change’s projects and partner projects. The aims of the Apprenticeship Scheme are as follows:

  • To empower young people to achieve their potential.
  • To give young people an experience of working in partnership with a world leading cricket development agency assisting their transition into working life.
  • Progress to possible employment opportunities on Cricket For Change’s signature projects HIT THE TOP and STREET 20.
  • Inspire other individuals from similar backgrounds to follow a similar path.
  • Increase the capacity of Cricket For Change to provide opportunities for young people to learn and play cricket in a safe environment.

GRADUATION AND BEYOND

The graduated apprentices may be offered paid work on some of the Cricket for Change projects. They will also receive support and backing from the charity if they wish to seek alternative employment with other organisations and hopefully begin to build their careers and take themselves and the charity forwards.

MEET JASMINE
Jasmine has learning difficulties and can struggle to process information. She has worked hard to be able to do more of the things that we take for granted, like using her Oyster card to get around.

Her Level 1 coaching badge is both a major personal achievement and an inspiration to the others she coaches who are dealing with similar difficulties.

Jasmine says, "The Apprenticeship is amazing, it's one place where I feel happy and stable in my life. I know I have someone to talk too at Cricket for Change."

MEET RYAN
Ryan is a visually impaired England International cricketer. He's been with the charity since he was 12 and has thrown himself into volunteering (for the charity) while juggling all his school studies and a busy cricket schedule. He has a great future with C4C as a skilled and inspirational coach.

Ryan says, "At Cricket for Change I have created many friendships. C4C has helped me maintain my independence and given me a whole lot of knowledge and basic skills about cricket that help young people like me focus on something positive".
